More than 64 million homes in the US use natural gas to heat their houses, and most of these homes use a furnace for the job. It’s no surprise that gas furnaces are the popular option for keeping cozy in the winter. They produce heat faster than electric ones, and do it quickly, efficiently, and economically.

Although gas furnaces are built to be as safe as possible, there are potential hazards. If you’re using a gas furnace to heat your home, it’s imperative to be aware of the things that could go wrong. One of these potential problems is a cracked heat exchanger. This is not a minor repair by any means. Maintaining your home’s climate control systems is a crucial step in keeping them working properly in the long term. Both heating and cooling systems can operate more efficiently, with less risk of problems, if they’re maintained before their heavy season starts.

That said, it makes sense to schedule your heating maintenance pretty soon! But what matters most with HVAC maintenance is consistency, more than timing. How These Undervalued AC Components Help (or Hurt) Efficiency

August 15th, 2022

You may already know this, but your central air conditioner came with an efficiency rating known as SEER. This stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The higher the SEER rating, the more powerful your air conditioner will be in general. When you’re installing a new cooling system installed, you work with an experienced team to ensure you’re being matched with the right SEER and the right sized air conditioner.

It’s also important to know what can help, or hinder, that efficiency rating. For instance, professional maintenance will help your air conditioner retain about 95% of its original efficiency rating. But each year you skip maintenance, your cooling system can actually lose 5% of that rating.

In addition to maintenance, the types of components and how well you take care of them make a difference too. Take your ductwork and your thermostat, for example. Read on to learn how these components can hurt or help your air conditioning efficiency.

If you’ve read our previous blogs or have ever read about indoor air quality, you know that without the right products or services in place, your indoor air quality can be worse than the quality of the air outside.

This means that you need air filtration and air purification systems to resolve this. Before you ask, no, your HVAC air filter is not enough to resolve any indoor air quality problems your living space may have. This is because this air filter is designed to protect the HVAC equipment itself from dust, dirt, and other debris that can do it harm.

But adding a whole-house air filtration system or air purifier to your household can certainly help improve your indoor environment. As for the answer to the question this blog post presents–whether or not you should run your air purifier all day–it actually depends.

The answer depends on if you have a whole-house air purifier, a portable one, what kind of filter it uses, and more. Read on to learn more!
